What Changes When the Net Metering Scheme Ends?<\/h3>\n

Until the end of 2026, households in the Netherlands can still offset the solar electricity they feed into the grid against the electricity they draw from it. From 1 January 2027, this will no longer be possible.<\/p>\n

You will still receive compensation for the electricity you export to the grid, but using as much of your own generated energy as possible will become more attractive.<\/p>\n

This is where a home battery plays an important role. Solar panels mainly generate electricity during the day, while your electricity consumption may be higher in the evening. A home battery allows you to temporarily store excess solar energy so you can use it when you need it.<\/p>\n
