Safe and Aesthetic Outdoor Enclosure for Home Batteries

The Batteryshelter is a fire-safe and weather-resistant outdoor enclosure for home batteries (ESS). This version in RAL 7016 anthracite grey visually complements commonly used façade bricks in dark grey and black-toned shades.
Research by Groothuisbouw and BMN Bouwmaterialen shows that these shades are most prevalent in modern residential architecture, making RAL 7016 the ideal colour match. This allows the shelter to blend subtly into the façade, resulting in a sleek, uniform appearance. The coating complies with ISO 12944 (C3) and provides long-lasting protection against corrosion and weather conditions.

The Batteryshelter is available in four standard variants:

  • Magnelis®
  • Powder coating in façade colours: copper brown (RAL 8004), traffic white (RAL 9016), and anthracite grey (RAL 7016).

Fire-Safe and Well-Ventilated Design
The enclosure features perforated front and side slots that enable natural airflow (free convection). Heat, smoke, and potential fire are discharged sideways – away from roof edges and wooden structures.
In the event of a thermal runaway, the battery cells remain safely contained within the shelter, preventing cell spread and minimising damage to the surroundings.

Protected Against Access and Weather Conditions
The lockable lid protects the battery from theft and unauthorised access. The construction is easy to assemble and open using standard socket head bolts, while two additional anti-theft security bolts provide burglary-resistant protection. Thanks to its IP33 and IK10 design, the Batteryshelter withstands rain and heavy impact.
Wall-mounting onto a non-combustible surface ensures optimal safety and complies with safety frameworks for stationary Li-ion systems.

Simple and Secure Wall Mounting
Wall mounting is easily carried out using ETA-approved Fischer construction plugs.
By positioning the enclosure at least 30 cm above ground level, the home battery is protected against water, dirt, and subsidence.

The shelter includes an integrated, UV-resistant Dehn K12 equipotential bonding rail for safe electrical earthing. It complies with IEC 60364-4-41, IEC 60364-5-54, and IEC/EN 62305-3 for main and lightning equipotential bonding.

Compatible with Various ESS Systems
The Batteryshelter is suitable for a wide range of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) from manufacturers such as Dyness, Huawei, SolaX, and more.
Thanks to its robust construction and low-maintenance finish, the shelter offers a long-lasting and secure solution for outdoor placement of home batteries.
