RoofSupport Equipotential Bonding Kits
RoofSupport equipotential bonding kits are applied in accordance with IEC 60364-4-41 and NEN1010:2020 standards to ensure proper equipotential bonding of PV equipment to the grounding system of the building or structure. The kits are available in different variants: 6 mm² and 16 mm² UV-resistant wire with various clamps and/or
tinned copper cable lugs (see metal table). According to IEC 60364-5-54 clause 544.4.3 /NEN1010:2020 clause 514.3.7, color coding is not required for metallic construction elements or extraneous conductive parts.

 

Using Equipotential Bonding Kits
To apply the RoofSupport equipotential bonding kits correctly, the following guidelines are recommended:

Bonding must be applied at every crossing between the PV and lightning protection system.
If systems run parallel within 50 cm, use the lightning protection mesh spacing to determine bonding frequency:LPL1 (mesh 5×5 m): bond every 5 meters

  • LPL2 (mesh 10×10 m): bond every 10 meters
  • LPL3 (mesh 15×15 m): bond every 15 meters
  • LPL4 (mesh 20×20 m): bond every 20 meters

It is assumed that the PV mounting structures are internally bonded. If not, they must either be interconnected or bonded separately to the lightning protection system.

Note: Equipotential bonding is not the same as grounding. Grounding must be performed at a designated grounding point. The lightning protection system is not considered a grounding point.

 

Equipotential Bonding Kit SR1 AB
Bonding kit for connecting the RoofSupport wire mesh cable tray to the PV system. The clamp is mounted to the cable tray, and a tinned copper cable lug is fastened to the PV system with a stainless steel self-tapping screw. The serrated washer ensures a reliable bond, even in the presence of anodized layers, paint or powder coating.

Equipotential Bonding Kit SR1 UNi
Bonding kit for equipotential bonding between an aluminium PV mounting profile and the PV system, using a Uniclamp to cable lug connection. The Uniclamp is fixed to the lightning protection system; the cable lug is connected to the PV system using a stainless steel self-tapping screw. The serrated washer ensures correct bonding, regardless of any coating or surface treatment.

Equipotential Bonding Kit SR2
Bonding kit for equipotential bonding of PV module frames and/or inverters and the metal frame of the PVshelter. The stainless steel self-tapping screw and serrated washer ensure a secure bond even with coatings or anodized finishes.
